Raw Materials Used
Ethanol is produced by fermentation of sugar by yeasts and by the process of ethylene hydration. At MSB Chemical Limited, we produce ethanol by fermentation of grains and sugarcane.
Suagrcane
Made from sugarcane juice. The juice/molasas is fermented using yeast, and then distilled to create ethanol.
Grain
Made from sugar in grains. Grains are fermented using yeast, and then distilled to create ethanol.

Food Grade
Ethanol of food-grade quality is alcohol intended for human consumption. Therefore, it must adhere to stringent rules and regulations. Ethanol that is not intended for human consumption is frequently denatured for tax purposes; thus, food-grade ethanol is also known as non-denatured ethanol. Food-grade alcohol can be produced from a variety of agricultural commodities, including sugarcane, wheat, and sugar beets. However, food-grade alcohol is frequently referred to as grain ethanol. Taking into consideration all varieties of food-grade ethanol, the common denominator is high purity and the absence of additives.
Cosmetic Grade
The ethanol or ethyl alcohol used in cosmetics is a denatured alcohol obtained by fermenting sugar starch from a wide variety of raw materials, such as sugar beetroot, sugar cane, wheat, grain, rye, and maize, or by synthesis. The process of denaturing renders ethanol unsuitable for use in alcoholic beverage products, rendering it exempt from certain taxes and levies. Ethanol is generally listed as Alcohol, Denat Alcohol, or Denat Ethanol in the ingredient list of ethanol-based cosmetics. High-purity ethanol for cosmetics (C2H5OH) is odorless and tasteless.
Pharma Grade
IP
Indian Pharmaceutical grade, which is the purest form of ethanol. Equivalent to USP grade.
JP
Chemicals manufactured under Good Manufacturing Practices meet Japanese Phamacopoeia
BP
Chemicals manufactured under Good Manufacturing Practices meet British Phamacopoeia.
EP/Ph. Eur
Chemicals manufactured under Good Manufacturing Practices meet Europian Phamacopoeia
USP
Chemicals manufactured under current Good Manufacturing Practices.
Other Grades
Extra Neutral Alcohol
ENA is without any impurities. It is colourless, and has a neutral smell and taste. It is therefore also known as neutral spirit. Typically 96% alcohol per volume. Used in the food and beverage industry as a base for spirits and alcoholic beverages, and as a solvent for colourants and flavours. Also used cosmetics, pharma, and medical products.
Denaturants
Denaturants are essential additives in the ethanol industry. By incorporating specific chemicals into ethanol for industrial use, denaturants impart unpleasant tastes, odors, or toxic properties, transforming it into "denatured ethanol." Common denaturing agents include methanol, isopropyl alcohol, denatonium benzoate, and methyl ethyl ketone
